Getting to follow along with a couples' journey after they get married has to be one of my favourite parts of this job. It was just over a year ago that I watched as these to committed to forever, and last week I got catch up with them and listen as they imagined their lives together as parents. These two are some of the sweetest human beings I've ever met and it was an honour getting to document this new chapter of their lives.

I've probably shot at this location a dozen times, yet every session turns out a little bit different. And despite these two claiming not knowing what to do to get great photos, halfway through the session, I got to just sit back and watch them be in love while silently snapping away. I absolutely love the way these two look at one another - I absolutely cannot wait photograph them all over again this coming July!
As is tradition with Chinese culture, the morning started with Mike going through a series of challenges to demonstrate his love for his bride Viola. With help from his groomsmen, Mike successfully conquered each of the challenges and was able to meet his bride (the black and white photo where they meet just might be my favourite photo from the day).
Mike and Viola then performed two tea ceremonies, one for each side of the family. This was my first time photographing a tea ceremony and I loved getting to witness Mike and Viola pay their respects to their parents and elders and thank them for their years of love and support.
Their wedding was held at the Calgary Zoo, and after a long, cold winter I couldn’t have been more excited to have access to the conservatory to take photos in afterwards (remember what the colour green is??). Their ceremony was short and sweet, and their reception was full of beautiful speeches, a sweet serenade, and a (possibly rigged) drawing competition. Overall, it was such a fun day and I was so happy to be part of it!
Mike and Viola, thank you for trusting me to capture your very special day! I wish the two of you all the best in your marriage together!

I love how these two would not stop smiling during their engagement session out at Lake Minnewanka last week. If this is how happy these two are to be in one another's presence, I can't wait to see them on their wedding day.
Below are just some of my favourite photos from this past year. As I looked back through the year to find moments to share, I was reminded of how incredibly grateful I am to be able to do this. To all of my beautiful clients, I cannot express how thankful I am to have been allowed into your lives to document a chapter of your journey. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for allowing me to do what I do.
I love that these two not only got to celebrate their 4 year wedding anniversary with these photos, but their little one on the way as well! Despite the VERY cold winds, these two laughed their way throughout their entire session and it was just the best thing to witness. I hope their little one laughs as much as these two do when they're around each other.
Late afternoon light at Prince's Island Park made the loveliest backdrop for these two as they reread their vows to stick by each's other side through thick and thin. Maryse and Peter will be celebrating their 6th wedding anniversary this December and it was so beautiful being able to celebrate with them with some photos.
Even though Andi + Chad were originally hoping for a fall engagement session, Mother Nature had other plans. Winter definitely showed up for their session out in Canmore (and with it, that cold wind chill we all know and love). Despite the less than ideal temperatures, I couldn't help but fall in love with the winter wonderland - the snow capped mountains and frozen lake made the loveliest backdrop.
I hear it almost every session: "We're really awkward getting our photo taken - let us know what we should do!". It's no surprise that most people feel this way when a camera comes out. This is why I include engagement sessions with every single one of my wedding packages - it's the perfect time to get the nerves out (especially before the big day) and to see that getting your photo taken with me just feels like hanging out with your best friend in a cool location (my favourite part is that every one of those couples walk away from their session saying "that was actually so fun!")
Diane + Ricky were sure to preface their session with the statement above. And yet, they got into the hang of things only 10 minutes into their session, and if it wasn't for the freezing winds, I could've photographed them all night long. They were so fun to hang out with, and agreed to all my crazy ideas, including going off the beaten path to catch those last rays of sunlight. And after seeing how stylish their were for their engagement session, I can't WAIT to see what their wedding next spring will look like!
On a quintessential fall day, Evelyn + John committed to forever in front of friends and family. The day seemed to fly by - we started with photos on St. Patrick’s Island, then onto the ceremony at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, followed by bridal party photos in Inglewood, and ending up at The Baron for their reception. That evening had to have been my favourite part of the day, as the stories about Evelyn + John and their journey had everyone in both tears and laughter. These two are some of the sweetest people around, and it was no surprise that so many of their friends and family had gathered to celebrate alongside them.
Evelyn + John, I hope your wedding was everything you dreamed it would be. I want to thank you for letting me witness and celebrate your journey leading up to this moment. I wish the two of you all the happiness in the world for your life together!

When I first got the inquiry email from Leah, I knew I was going to love working with her and Trenton. Not only did she rank the importance of photography on their wedding day as an 11 (when the scale was 1-10), but the way she outlined her vision for the day was just too perfect: an intimate ceremony in one of Calgary's most beautiful parks, followed by plenty of photos of the two of them, and ending with a small casual dinner at a beautiful restaurant.... absolute perfection. I cannot wait to spend the day with them next June!
From the moment I met with Carmen, I knew she was the type of bride I want to work with. I loved listening to her describe what she envisioned for her and Jeramy's wedding day - a day to relax, hang out with friends and family, play games, and enjoy the day. And while they were excited to celebrate with their loved ones, they also craved something a bit more intimate for their vows. So the week before their wedding, they headed out to the mountains, hiked to the most beautiful mountain meadow and read their promises to support each other, inspire one another, and to stand by each other's side through the good and the bad. It was so incredibly beautiful to watch and I was truly honoured to have been asked to join them.
That following Saturday, they met again at Baker Park to celebrate with their friends and family. Their ceremony was sweet and simple - complete with a surprise song from Carmen that brought many to tears.
A few months ago, I started a series called The Intentional Bride as a way to inspire couples to do things their own way, and I don't think Carmen and Jeramy could have done it any better. From their mountain meadow vows to their intimate brunch reception at Seasons of Bowness, these two were intentional throughout the entire process.
Carmen + Jeramy, thank you for bringing me along to celebrate your beautiful journey. I have loved getting to know you both, hear your story, and witness your beautiful love for one another. I wish the two of you all the adventure life has to offer in your marriage together.
While I don’t know everything there is to know about marriage, I do know that it’s worth celebrating. Whether you’ve been married for 12 months or 12 years, I believe in honouring your choice to wake up and continually choose to do life with your partner; in the growth that happens individually and as a couple; and in the messy, beautiful and unique journey you're on together.
So with that, I’m excited to be offering anniversary sessions - a time together to intentionally slow down, re-read your promises made to one another, and dream about your future together. My hope is that these photos serve to remind you that with each passing year, you fall deeper in love with one another.

Their families had been friends for years - they even grew up playing soccer together. So you can imagine how thrilled everyone was they ended up going with each other to their high school graduation, dating, and eventually agreeing to spend the rest of their lives together.
On a warm summer day, Amy + Zac committed to forever in front of their friends and family. The day went by perfectly - you would never have guessed how stressful the previous months of planning had been (losing their original venue to a fire will do that). Yet, Amy + Zac breezed through the day with smiles on their faces - their day had finally come and they couldn't wait to celebrate with friends and family.
We went back to the same location as their engagement session - the tree that once bloomed cherry blossoms now held apples and made for the loveliest backdrop for their photos (which conveniently sits on the property of their future home). To sweeten the day even further, upon hearing that Zac's family's cat had kittens only THREE days prior to their wedding, we were all in agreement that photos must be taken. I mean, when there are 5 kittens in the litter and 5 people in the bridal party... I'm pretty sure that's meant to be.
Amy + Zac - I hope your wedding was everything you dreamed it would be. Despite the bumps you encountered throughout the planning process, it couldn't have been a more perfect day. Thank you for trusting me to capture these very important memories - it's always such an honour to photograph a fellow photographer :)

Backyards are quickly becoming my new favourite kind of venue - they're intimate, they often hold significant meaning - they're the perfect space to allow those closest to the bride and groom to witness the moment they say I do.
Jessica and Mark's backyard ceremony could not have been more beautiful. Their vows had everyone in tears, and their sweet simple ceremony reflected them and their journey together. I always feel incredibly honoured when couples choose to have me celebrate their day with them, but something about these intimate ceremonies continually remind me of how lucky I am to do what I do.
Jessica + Mark, thank you for letting me into your lives and allowing me to be present on your beautiful wedding day. I don't think you two could be more perfect for one another, and I know your marriage will be full of love and laughter. I wish you both all the happiness in the world and can't wait to follow your journey together!
