The Valley Weddings: Erin + Wei

Erin and Wei’s wedding at The Valley Weddings near Edmonton was the kind of day that felt effortless in the best way. Laid back, thoughtful, and full of heart, their focus was simple: celebrate their unique and beautiful love story with their favourite people (and have a genuinely good time doing it).

The Valleys was the perfect backdrop for their day. After seeing this new venue pop up on instagram, I was eagerly anticipating the first time I’d get to photograph a wedding here. And boy did it not disappoint. The Valleys is a family-owned wedding venue nestled in the forested countryside. The property is surrounded by trees and even includes a small stream. But my favourite part of this venue is their reception space - the enclosed glass structure makes you feel like you’re fully immersed in nature. They also have multiple outdoor ceremony sites, bridal + groom suites, and a gorgeous property for portraits - a photographer’s dream.

Following their ceremony (where both the sun and rain decided to show up simultaneously), guests moved into the cocktail hour. A custom cocktail book was given to guest that shared Erin and Wei’s love story alongside signature drinks inspired by different chapters of their relationship. It was such a fun, personal (and delicious) way to invite everyone into their story.

But my all time favourite parts of the day had to have been when Wei surprised everyone by stepping behind the DJ booth. Much to the delight of their guests, it was revealed that Wei had been secretly planning his own DJ set. I loved getting to be in on this secret and watch the faces of the guests as they scrambled to hit the dance floor.

I had an absolute blast getting to celebrate with these two and their people, and wish we could do it all over again. Congratulations Erin + Wei!
